SCCC poker run; May 25, 2022
Here is a message from Don Tobin about the SCCC Poker Run. Before we get to that, I would like to once again thank Don, Pat, and their team for all the work they put into this event. It was truly a great road trip and a spectacular day... Thanks again for everything that you continue to do for this club. From Don Tobin,Yesterday, we had our SCCC poker run up to the high country. What a beautiful day for a drive in our fantastic cars! We had a total of 13 cars and 26 participants. We met at the Bagel shop off of the Carefree Hwy and proceeded up I-17 with stops in Cordes Junction, Camp Verde before heading east up to the Rim Country. Our drive took us through the small town of Strawberry and ended at the Old County Inn in the town of Pine for lunch. All of the people at the restaurant really worked hard at catering to our group while still keeping their regular clientele happy. Some of our members had pizzas while others had chicken wings or salad. While many of us were eating, Pat Tobin & Dennis Williams tabulated the poker hands. Dick Whalen won the poker run part of the day. He had 2 pairs Aces & Deuces and the pot was $123. Congrats Dick, you showed great skill in making your number choices. Everyone enjoyed their meals and afterwards we thanked our waitresses and then headed back to the valley. What a terrific day and I would like to thank all of my helpers today. As with all events it is never accomplished by just one individual. Thank you to Pat Tobin, Dennis & JoDee Williams, John Seeger and every single one of the participants. If you had considered joining in but didn't or couldn't then I hope you can come along on a future club event.d
