Drive to Anthem Veteran’s Memorial in Remembrance of Veteran’s Day
I want to thank everyone that participated in our annual event. On Tuesday, November 14th, we had an all members event that encompassed two activities. We met and then made a drive to the Anthem Community Park to view the Veteran’s Memorial located in the park. SCCC has commemorative bricks placed at the Memorial honoring & remembering a total of 8 current/former members plus family members. The bricks are for: Daniel I Murphy Kenneth Larsen Donald J Tobin Michael S Tobin (son) Ronnie K Watts Philip N Watts (son) James W Strong Lloyd J McClane (son of James McClane)We had a total of 23 people that joined us for our visit and photo op at the Memorial. We arrived in 12 Corvettes & 1 SUV. Following our visit, we did proceed north on I-17 to Chilleen’s on 17 in Black Canyon City for lunch. The food & service at the restaurant was top-notch and of course the camaraderie and conversation were terrific. In case you were wondering one of the desserts on the menu is called “Death by Chocolate”. This is a brownie covered by vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup & whip cream. So yes, we did get ice cream.Recently the Memorial has been expanded. Originally there were 2500 Memorial pavers. Now with the recent expansion an additional 3000 pavers have been added.
