A big thank you goes out to Don Tobin and his team as we just completed our Overnight Poker Run with the club. Due to the hot summer weather that we’ve had this year and difficult road conditions, Don decided to establish a different route for the Poker Run as we all traveled north to the high country around Flagstaff. We had numerous stops along the way in some absolutely beautiful country. These were parts of Arizona that most of us had never been to before and we were all impressed not only with the scenery but the smell of the pines, the clouds, and the much cooler weather. At each stop Pat Tobin, Dennis and JoDee Williams punched everyone’s poker hand ticket. While we were all having lunch in Flagstaff, Pat and Dennis scored each player’s poker hand and with a hand having 3 Queens, Sherry Yoder was the winner of the $102 pot. Congrats to Sherry…..
Overnight Poker Run 2023
After lunch we had a few hours before our club dinner and Don researched several different activities for the club and offered them for each member to decide which one, they preferred. Most decided to travel to the Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument just outside of Flagstaff at an elevation of 8,042 feet. They arrived there in time to experience a little rain so didn’t get to walk around that much. The next morning after having a group breakfast, we left the hotel at 9:30am to travel off the freeway on the backroads to Sedona for a little shopping at the beautiful Tlaquepaque Art & Shopping Village where we had clear skies and 80-degree temperature. Then the group was on to Cottonwood for lunch and of course a visit to an ice cream parlor after that. For those of us that went, we didn’t have much to do other than just follow our leader, Don Tobin. All the necessary reservations for the meals were made for us in advance, each stop was spaced out and timed down to within a few minutes. We had nothing to worry about, just set back and enjoyed the trip. All in all, it was a truly great fun filled trip and Don, Pat, Dennis and JoDee, you all did a great job.
Thank you so much,
Jim
